Introducing Promomedia Engineering for technological innovation in retail
Promomedia Engineering is the Promomedia Group company specialising in technological innovation in the retail sector. The new company is the culmination of an ongoing collaboration between Promomedia, the leading Italian group in promotion
and monitoring at the point of sale, and the Software Engineering research lab at the University of Bari, one of the top ten mega universities in the Censis ranking.
“Innovation is an integral part of our mission”, says Saverio Addante, CEO of Promomedia and president of Confindustria Intellect, the Confindustrial Federation dedicated to academic activities. “We created this company more than 40 years ago with the aim of offering our customers experimental solutions that could make them more competitive, faster and more effective in hitting their target, i.e. the end consumer. For us, innovation means thinking in terms of ideas, tools, processes and products, but to do all this, first of all you have to invest in technology.”
With this in mind, Promomedia Engineering, led by Giovanni Bruno, a founding partner of the SER&Practices spin-off at the University of Bari, will specialise in the development of technological solutions in the service of retail distribution. These include, among others, the brand-new VolantinOggi, the app that allows you to consult modern retailers’ flyers and compare their offers with the CRM Business platform, which allows you to work with data and profile consumers.
“Software development is certainly nothing new for Promomedia”, continues Saverio Addante. “We developed programmes capable of automating processes at a time when the very concept of in-house software was considered innovative.
What has changed is that today we put our skills and, above all, our corporate philosophy at the service of our customers. The reason that we have chosen the path of skills internalisation over time is that we know how unique we are.
We cannot rely on standard products because they will never reflect our real needs, and we’ll always have to make the most of it and adapt, when actually it’s the tools that should be shaped in line with our processes. If this one very important rule applies to us, it clearly applies to our customers in the same way.
This is why we decided to create a new company to serve our customers, so that every proposed solution is exactly in line with the requirements of that specific customer and not any other. Solutions that are always customisable, at any moment.
This is what dictates the rules of the game in every field: customisation”
